Portugal

After a monster overnight drive we arrived at the northern tip of Portugal at 4 in the morning. After a few hours sleep crammed in the van we where greeted by what we soon learnt was a very typical Portuguese summer day: dry, scorching hot and not a cloud to be seen (a pleasant change from the volatile wintery conditions we just left behind in Spain). But we soon found out that the water was ice cold!
We went 5 days in Portugal with no swell but there was no complaints. The route south along the coast is textured with charming little towns, cobblestone roads and beautiful beaches. And yesterday we scored some fun little waves at a cool little beach called Molho Leste at Peniche, and the water is slowly warming up as we dribble our way down the coast.

16 hour days

An interesting little perk of this part of the world, which i have so far neglected to mention, are the 10.45pm sunsets. Here is my mate Lachlan noseriding his self shaped 6'0" single fin to glory at around 10.30pm.

Le Hammer

After camping out at Zarautz for a few days the Humphrey brothers agreed to adopt us into Le Hammer, their ex UK postal van come surf wagon (and now home of five). So we jumped in the back of the van and started cruising west along the north coast of Spain.
We would take the coastal roads until we find some surf, pull up, go for a wave, make dinner and as it gets dark just set up the tent somewhere discrete. The weather here has been the major challenge one day your in boardies lying on the beach all day, the next your wearing all the clothes you own at once and crowding around a camp fire.

Spain

We made it to Biarritz France and some friends gave us a lift straight down across the border into Spain to a town called San Sebastian. We hung out there for a couple of days and went surfing and drank sangrea. Not many photos because showing anything valuable like a camera just sceemed 'mug me'. Before long we had jagged another lift along the coast with some friendly aus boys to a beach called Zauruts, we bought a tent and set up here for a while in paradise.

Zurich

Zurich was a charming little city that seemed to party untill the morning every night and then sit around at cafés all day. although at roughly $13 for a beer in some places and $7 for a coffee we could't afford to stay for long
